Active Release Technigues
What is Active Release?

Active Release Technique or ART is a hands on therapy that removes scar tissue without injurying surrounding muscles, ligaments, or nerves.

To date ART is the only patented movement based on soft tissue therapy.

What is Scar Tissue?

Scar tissue is dense , weak tissue that binds up and ties down tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves). Scar tissue will also inhibit proper joint motion.

Scar tissue occurs from:

  • Acute injuries
  • Repetitive movements
  • Hypoxia (tissue not getting enough oxygen)

Example of Scar Tissue

A callous is an example of scar tissue. As you know, a callous is an area of skin which has become relatively thick and hard as a response to repeated contact or pressure. Your muscles, tendons, and ligaments will respond the same way to repeated contact or pressure.
