Blood Markers 5…
Potassium:
A healthy or optimal range for potassium is 4.0-4.6, the clinical range is 3.5-5.0. Potassium is key in our bodies for maintenance of blood and urine pH. It eliminates water and excess tissue fluids and prevents cardiac and skeletal muscle fatigue. Potassium is a major intracellular electrolyte that must be in balance with Sodium. Increased levels of potassium may cause diarrhea, acidosis, diabetic coma, acute infections, uremia, acute bronchitis, asthma, and dialysis. Decreased levels may cause anemia, chronic nephritis, diabetes, malignant growth, diuretics and over dosage of some hormones. That is why we test for different blood marker levels at Active Care Chiropractic. It allows us to catch increased or decreased levels in time to avoid or reverse symptoms them before any harm is done to our patients.
